Originally De Liefde is a so-called baltic trader. The ship (then named Thalatta) sailed her cargo between different harbours in the Baltic Sea since 1937. Near the end of the eighties she was taken out of service and brought to the Netherlands. The ship was withering until she was discovered by an enthusiast in 1998, who was charmed by her fine and robust shapes. Sketches were made and within one year they started the renovation. The hull and the rigging were returned according to its original plan. However, below deck has undergone a transformation into a comfortable accommodation.

Interior
On board of the ship are twelve luxurious cabins, each with two king-size single beds, a bathroom with shower and toilet, central heating, and air ventilation. Shortly, all facilities are provided for to fulfill your wishes. Every day, the cabins are cleaned and provided with fresh towels. Especially for bridal couples there is a honeymoonsuite with jacuzzi.

Onderdeks

In the back of the ship, a stylish lounge is situated to be used for seminars and other business meetings. In no time, this room can be turned into a diningroom where exquisite meals are served.

Dekniveau

The cosy living-room area has a library, where you can relax or read a good book when the ship is tied up in a harbour.

Interieur

Upstairs, in the wheelhouse, is a comfortable sitting area with panoramic view. While enjoying a drink, you can overlook the water.

Sailing area
The sailing area is the IJsselmeer, Markermeer, Waddenzee, and certain seaways in the provinces of Friesland and Groningen. Home port is Lelystad. Other harbours can be requested, however, with extra costs to sail across. It is possible for the ship to cross over to those places in the Netherlands only if they can be reached by seaways. For example, to Rotterdam or the province of Zeeland by means of the standing-mast-route through Amsterdam.

Hotelship
From 1 October until 1 April De Liefde is tied up in Amsterdam (or other IJsselmeer ports) as a hotelship. The ship is an excellent accommodation for teambuilding activities, presentations, incentives, staff meetings, trainings, hotelships at fairs, congresses, or weddings. It is possible to rent the ship during the summerseason for these purposes as well. The ship can only be booked completely, not per cabin. The recommended price is € 1500,00. (excl. V.A.T. & excl. breakfast). You and your ensemble will have the ship all to yourself. After a long day, you can relax on board and enjoy a delicious meal or have a drink at the bar. In the evening, your clients can be invited for an informal meeting, or you can evaluate today's business activities with your employees. The history of traditional sailingships during the nineteenth century will be the setting for meetings in a luxurious ambiance. The steward and his assistants will make sure that you'll lack nothing, so you can enjoy your sailingtrip or meeting.

Possibilities

Nautical Conventioncenter
All-inclusive congresses: sail on board of one or more ships along the IJsselmeer or Waddenzee to organize a convention up to 500 persons. Do business in a maritime wintery atmosphere. New Year's Receptions, Christmas Gatherings, Parties with Employees or Associates, Business Events, Jubilees and Festivities, Hotelaccommodations. This maritime atmosphere enables you to let go of your daily worries so you can concentrate on important issues. In between formalities, or afterwards, you can relax on deck, take a city trip, stroll around the old town, or jump into the city's nightlife. Every ship and every harbour has got its own possibilities.

If you are planning an overnight meeting, or you would like to stay after dinner instead of driving home, the cabins on board will offer you all the comfort for a pleasant overnight stay. The bar on board will be open, and the ship is exclusively for you and your guests.

Naturally, you will nog be lacking any culinary festivities. The catering crew will make sure that you can enjoy exquisite meals at times of rest and relaxation. The old-fashioned galley has made way for a wonderful kitchen with extraordinary cooking facilities. From cosy High Tea's until generous Captains Dinners and from exquisite delicacies until extensive buffets. Everything will be prepared by our qualified cooks and will be served by our professional catering crew.

Parties
During the period of 1 November through 1 April the ship is tied up in Amsterdam (also look under "Hotelship"). During this period, the ship is a perfect location for your dinnerparty, wedding party, training or presentation. You and your ensemble will have the ship all to yourself! You can compose highly culinary and exclusive dinners and buffets together with our chef-cooks. Occasionally, we can also take care of the catering at your location. Depending on the program of the day, the capacity of the ships vary from 50 to 120 guests. Of course, one can spend the night on board of the ship afterwards.

Luxurious overnight sailingtrips
Besides one-day sailingtrips, De Liefde is an excellent sailingship for longer periods of time as well. For example, you can visit the lovely villages along the IJsselmeer or sail to the islands in the Waddenzee. According to an itinerary or down the wind, everything is possible. The ship is an luxurious location in maritime atmosphere. From the moment the captain extends a hearty welcome to everyone aboard, you will feel the warm and pleasant atmosphere. Your baggage will be brought to your cabin and the captain will explain all about the ship's facilities. After that, it's time to relax.

Full board
The steward and his assistants will be waiting you from breakfast until a late-night snack. All meals on board will be prepared with fresh ingredients, and according to your wishes, by a professional cook. You won't be lacking anything!

Relaxed sailing
The crew will enthusiastically teach you the secrets of yachtsmanship. The underlying idea is that working in a team requires everyone to have his or her own responsibility. The rigging can be controlled from deck, so nobody has to cut capers above water.

Catering
Catering can be obtained from the ship's catering service only. The catering is adapted to the ship's possibilities and atmosphere, however, it can be prepared to your wishes. Different standards of catering can be arranged: from hamburger to lobster and oysters. Detailed information on buffets and menus will be sent to you on request.
